: specially processed animal hide. The Inuits used untanned
: sealskin. Because it was not tanned it was subject to microbial
: attack that caused it to slowly rot. Once winter had set in the
: kayaks were stripped to the framworks and a new skin was mounted
: for the following hunting season.
: Use nylon or polyester. You won't regret it.
