If anyone knows of equipment other than your typical camping gear that would be advantageous to use in the Canadian north, please let me know. I have 11 days to get my act together before I head off into the wild. I have quite a good set up as I understand matters of wilderness camping and am shopping for ideas that I have not thought of. I have the ICOM VHF Marine Radio, Garmin GPS, Aeronautical maps, voice recorder (156 hrs), Canon Rebel XTi with 8g card (3500 high res images), bear bangers, flares, strobe, fibreglass repair kit, water filter, dehydrated foods of a wide variety, quinoa for protein source, power bars, pemmican, ditch kit, decent pfd, two paddles, paddle leash, paddle float, rescue ropes of various sizes and lengths, premiere first aid kit (my own custom equipped kit), knoife (bloody big, eh), portage cart, Guinness' in a sack (one per day), tons of clothes (no cotton), my wide-brimmed Filson (best hat made in Seattle), neo booties/gloves...etc, etc, etc.
