I thought of bringing a rifle to shoot the skeeters and flies...I am already familliar with their size and ferocity. I do have the 90-95% deet which I will bring with me and I have the head net. Interestingly, while I was on Cedar Lake, I never needed to use it: the bugs stayed in the forest along the shore and never bothered me but then again, they usually don't - yep, I am one of those guys who isn't bothered by bugs. As for a sat phone, too expensive and I don't have time to earn the $$$ to get one so I will have to depend on my cell phone and VHF radio. My sweetheart will have the itinerary but an itinerary won't be much good time wise since I have no idea how long I will stay at any given camp site. If I find one that is awesome and I have the time, I will linger in that area for an extra day or two. That said, I will let Manitoba Hydro, the Canadian Coast Guard and the RCMP know that I am in the area.
