Robert, if you do manage to rig up this paddle strap system with bungie, please post some pictures. I'd love to see my idea realized!

I had plans to do similar for a friend's Chesapeake 16LT, but hadn't thought of the bungie at the time I planned this. And now, I'm not really involved in that boat... we got it built enough to paddle, but final outfitting hasn't been completed, and I became annoyed with the situation and haven't volunteered any more time to finish it out. I don't even know if she's been paddling it, and I've been too busy to go out paddling with her...

This is a rig I wouldn't do on my own kayak. Because it's a SOF, I have put 2 lines with 2 sliders aft of the cockpit, traditional style, and it works exceedingly well for holding the Greenland style paddle. Because the GP has it's own bouyancy, I can use it as an outrigger for re-entry. Which I avoid at ALL costs, because it would bruise my rolling pride to have to exit the kayak :)

If I were ever to build a hard shell boat, such as Duane Strosaker's Point Bennett Chop, or a Bjorn Thomasson Black Pearl, I would probably still use sliders aft of the cockpit...
