I do understand that. I just mentioned traditional because it shows the strength of lashing alone. FWIW, I'm finishing the frame of my second Yost Kidarka today. I lashed almost every joint, All are glued with plain Elmers waterproof yellow glue, and I've pegged some joints, but I don't like pegging into the edge of thin plywood, I'd rather lash and glue. I've also done a could of scaled down Yost Sea Fleas, a Yost construction inspired Igdlorssuit, a few Putz truss constructed kayaks, and a few more traditionally build skin on fram kayaks. I've used screws, pegs, thickened epoxy, polyurethane glue, plain yellow glue, and lashing. Based on my experiences, I prefer lashed joints. I have had joint failures on all methods of joints, except lashing. No failures have been catestrophic, but I have had misc, pieces of wood come loose, on my kayaks as they get old, but never a lashed piece. I even had a rack failure where a traditional sof and a plywood and glass kayak came off my roof a about 60 mph. They were both still attached to the rack so they hit the road together. The plywood kayak was busted up quite badly, but the lashed sof only suffered minor skin damage. Lashed joints are very strong.
