Hello Everyone,
I started drawing out the plans for the Sea Pup today. I like to put it to posterboard first, then transfer to the plywood.
However, I noticed the Sea Pup Deck is only a 9.6" tall. When I built the Sea Flea, I raised the 8" deck an inch thinking the original was too low.
I was glad I did as it increased the length of time that my daughter was able to paddle the boat before she grew out of it, unable to get her legs in and out easily. So knowing she outgrew the Sea Flea with the 9" Deck, unable to get into it any more... Do I go ahead and raise the deck of the Sea Pup for her leg room? If so, how much should I raise it?
Thanks for the opinions.
You'll probably see me hanging out here again, as some of you may remember me from 2007, building my first kayak for my daughter. She is 10 this year.... long legged little thing, is demanding her new boat for the season..LOL. So we are starting on it this week. Lumber is purchased, and even bought some new tools instead of borrowing. Got the garage cleaned out a bit and have eliminated all excuses not to get this done in a timely fashion. (yeah, right!)
I'll be needing a cheering squad as I muddle my way through this. Then Im hoping to move on to an adult size to build for misc tag-alongs that might like to go out kayaking with us at times. Havent picked which boat that will be yet... I could use some opinions on that too. Whats an all around, good general SOF to build for a wide spectrum of people?
Thanks again... I look forward to hearing from you all.
Warm Smiles, ~Heather
