: Am in the midst of 'glassing and had a batch of epoxy kick off
: earlier than expected. (Operator error? Three other batches,
: done right before and after, went fine.) The thickening epoxy
: didn't wet out the cloth in spots, but hardened over it before
: soaking into the fibers. Can I fix this by sanding down to
: expose the unfilled weave of the fiberglass and re-applying more
: viscous epoxy, or do I need to remove the fiberglass entirely
: and patch the areas involved?
Btw, I'm assuming you're in the northern hemisphere, so it's summer. If so epoxy is very temperature sensitive, if a batch is used in the warmest part of the day it'll kick off faster than that used when it's cooler. Helps if it's very warm to mix it and dispense it from a very shallow pan, foil pie pans are cheap and the foil will help cool the resin too.
