Strip: Pond Boat advice

First post in a long time.

I have completed a Great Auk and a Guillemot, used for day trips and some camping by my wife and myself.

I'd like a small open canoe for tooling around calm water and fishing. I'n a 225 pound 6'2" paddler, so I can't go too tiny. There's a 3 three year old grandaughter too, so good initial stability is needed.

So far I've looked at the WCHA plan list, several websites, and I'm thinking of Rob Roy or Wee Lassie style canoes in the 11-13 foot range. I also have come into a pretty good stock of beautiful clear, straight grained redwood reclaimed from a deck that was removed from my parent's house. I'm thinking 3/16 redwood strips and simple details to keep the boat light.

Please give me any feedback on particular designs or experiences you've had. It will be good to take on another project.

Thanks
