Since I use an open strongback (no top board) this is a problem. But there are a couple of simple ways: normally I mark the locations of the mold crossbeams with a thin line, fastened to the end of the strongback – used together with a pencil as a very large compass it gives you a couple of marks on the strongback members, which are ecxactly perpendicular to the reference line – or otherwise a large carpenters square (mine is an ancient wrought iron piece, almost a meter long and inherited from my grandfather, a carpenter) held to the mold and aligned along the reference line.
