Foot pegs? Use what you have

For now go with what you have: the dry bags. Look for potential wear areas and put on a strip of duct tape as a buffer. The precise, technical term for this is "the Band-Aid approach". Unfortunately that is a very old Inuit term and is not translatable into English so I can't elaborate. After 10 hours of paddling this boat you can decide if you need to change things.
