I don't want to open another can of worms here but I don't pre-coat either. That's another step that I find unnecessary with more rollers, mixing / clean-up etc. and as you say - another sanding. Some epoxy sellers recommend a pre-coat but I think it's because they want to insure good wet out using rollers later. Whereas, you can do the whole thing in one easy shot with a squeegee. I always wet my surface well in advance with alcohol to check for any glue spots. Once again, non of these methods are absolute, you develop techniques and habits that work well for you.
