As a fellow "thumb mangler" I am glad to hear that your thumb has healed. My incident was caused by reaching behind the blade to finish out a cut because- get this- I was afraid the push stick was going to slip and put my hand in danger of hitting the blade. Hindsight is definately 20/20. Now I know why you never reach behind the blade. I was ripping a 19' piece of redwood. It kicked back and took my thumb across the blade, cutting the tip off about 1/4 inch into the quick. Amazingly they were able to graft some skin from my arm and make a new thumbtip, and even more amazing I regained feeling in the tip. The surgeon said that was impossible, so I had him touch it while I had my head turned and I told him exactly where he touched it. Also the nail grew back which he said was also a miracle because when you cut that far into the quick it doesn't grow back. I am blessed.

The jig looks great. My quest for a table saw has finally ended. I am buying my friend's Ridgid that he never uses. I believe I will start making a crosscut sled/scarfing jig this weekend.
