African, Cuban, and South American mahoganies differ greatly by weight but all will epoxy with no problem. Mahogany is a dream to work with but some South American varieties are tricky to pla e without tear-out. If you get tear-out then use a sander. African mahogany of good quality will plane easily, cut easily, and glue easily. I use it in wood surfboards. If you've seen any of my posts the reddish-brown wood is mahogany- either African or local Caribbean which is basically Cuban Mahogany.
