Hello Folks,
The 12th annual West Coast Wooden Kayak Rendezvous (R2KX) is set for July 30, 31, and August 1 (1 pm Friday through 3 pm Sunday) at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend. The event is free and open to the public (donations to cover park fees gladly accepted).
Bring your home-made kayak or canoe or just come and enjoy the people, boats, and activities.
Expect to see strip-built and stitch-and-glue boats as well as traditional skin-on-frame and folding kayaks.
The adjacent beach is a great place to paddle and let the kids play.
Activities begin Friday and end Sunday with plenty of time between events to talk and try other people's boats.
Demonstrations will cover some of the basic processes of kayak construction.
Pancakes Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Crab & Shrimp boil & feed Saturday evening - can't miss this!
E-mail me with any questions you might have or suggestions for demos that you'd like to see.
Hope to see you all there.
Joe
