thanks for the replies,

It appears that from input on this site and Paddling.net that the primary culprit is not Enough Hip padding (Makes sense)

one of the kayak shops near me stocks minicell so Ill get some and beef up the hip braces and add some wedge type padding to the thigh area.

the coaming is the standard coaming that CLC cuts for the merganser and shearwater. the skirt size is seals 1.4 (fitted at kayak shop)

the coaming is pretty uniform except seems a bit narrower just behind me at the 7 and 5 oclock position thats where it lets go.

Ill cinch up the bungee on the skirt and see if there is anything in the way under the coaming (ridge of epoxy???)

I will also make the hip/thigh pads that should do it as this boat will be no fun if I have to paddle it Like a open canoe.
