: Les, That is beautiful. Great job!
: You mentioned that it is 15 feet and 6 inches. I am very curious,
: did you scale the design following the procedure in Nick's book?
: I want to build a Guillemot and I was thinking about using the
: equations in Nick's book to scale the plans back to 16 feet. I
: already did the calculations and made the spreadsheet, but I was
: somewhat concerned that the handling would be unpredictable if I
: changed Nick's design. So I am really wondering how this change
: worked out and what procedure that you followed to make the
: change?
: Thanks.
Thanks for the compliments. I scaled down the length by leaving the centre section at 12" but then reduced each successive section by 1/4"so the section lengths looked like;-
10" 10 1/4" 10 1/2" 10 3/4" 11" 11 1/4" 11 1/2" 11 3/4" 12" then the same this end! You will then need to rescale the end sections to suit and add up the sections to give you a new length for your strongback. I think I adjusted the curve above the sheer line to avoid too much of a "hook " to the line but I wouldn't sweat on it too much as it is above the waterline anyway so it's just a matter of what looks good to you. hope this is of use.
