Watch it with the seat belt/knee strap idea.

1. When you're drownin' you're gonna wanna get out fast. Some of the surf kayak guys use 'em though and most of the waveski guys ... and some have also reported having problems releasing the seat belt guickly because it got rolled up in their clothing. The preferred buckle is not a ratchet buckle ... it's the Island Wave Ski buckle ... although some use a dive buckle. Check out http://www.waveski.com/ to see the Island buckle.

2. If you strap yourself in ... although you will have more control over the boat with your body ... the boat is gonna feel more gittery ... you may not like it and it will likely take some effort to feel comfortable with it. Try on a waveski ... not too bad without the seat belt ... more gittery with it until ya get used to it.
