Hi John,
I have built both Nikumi and Nikumi 19. Both have 8oz poly from Dyson and I am very pleased with the skin. I have used 8oz on other SOF with the same results. The coating I have used is Zar on both Nikumi and Rustoleum oil base paint on another. All of these with good results. The one thing I like about the poly skin is once shrunk it stays shrunk no stretching back out. I have used nylon with 2 part urethane from skin boat store. The result is very durable but not as stable as far as stretching back out. I hope this helped.
