Hi Jim,
Another way is to use the coaming riser as a form and make a lamination of half the lip only make it thicker. Like 11/8" thick and then when it is hardened enough use your band saw and cut two 1/4" halves out of the lamination. use these for the coaming lip. I have used this method with good success. It is way easier than all those long gooey 1/4" strips. I also use my bench top planer to mill the two halves to a good clean 1/4".
Tony's method of 2 strips at a time also works great. Tony that is beautiful work you did.
