: I'm not entirely sure what a sheer strip is. It sounds like a strip
: (1/4" wide?) that is fastened to the inside of the hull
: projecting above the sheer line to meet the deck shaped to
: provide a gluing surface in contact with the underside of the
: deck. For the Petrel, that's about 15 degrees within about 2
: feet of either end.

Sheer strip generally is a wider piece of stock ( I use 1/2" x 3/4") installed on the inside of the hull (normally from end to end) has to be set in prowd (sticking up beyond the strip edges) so that the top can be planed to match the angle of the deck.
I just use short pieces at the ends that are hard to reach.
