Off Topic: Age perceptions

Driving to a Maine vacation with my new Night Heron on the car I had already received some nice comments from people in parking lots at rest stops. I expected a good chance of the same when a senior citizen about my age (mid 70s) walked over to my car. He looked up at the kayak, looked at me and said "Is a guy your age really into that sh#t?" Unable to think of a snappy reply I simple said "Yes, I helps keep me young. I really enjoy it!" He replied "Yeah, I might enjoy it too if I were 30 years younger". At that point I decided not to add to the conversation.

I wonder what he would have thought about my adult recumbent tricycle. Some of the people I paddle/pedal with are in their 80s. I hope to become one of them.
