My wife and I played hooky today. Instead of my wife's usual writing and my usual thesis research and boat work, we took our rec kayaks to Waldo Lake.

Waldo lake is in the Cascade foothills about 75 miles southeast of Eugene, OR, at an elevation of about 5000 feet. Recently, gasoline motors were banned on the lake, making it an ideal spot for sailing and paddling. The water is exceptionally clear and today had the hue of blue ink. A mild breeze provided a gentle chop for the couple hours we were out.
