: i'd like to add a football shaped piece of 8oz poly on the

: polyester fabric ? The idea is to put on the tape where i want
: to cut with scissors so the fabric doesn't ravel (i use the same
: technique to cut fiberglass cleanly, tape comes of when the
: glass saturates).

: bit but a lot less though.

: I want to work directly on the kayak, so using a soldering iron is
: no option, and it leaves a ridge. Put on the fabric, varnish so
: it stays put and cut to shape.

The tapes that really stick you probably don't want to use as the adhesive will come off onto the fabric. Polyester has a funny finish that tape doesn't like.
