That sea sock looks like a good idea.

The MDO plywood sounds good, too. Like you said, it should be readily available... looks like it's commonly used to form concrete, so it's more likely to be stocked or at least ordered by someone local. Looks to be more pricey, but not by much. Should save time and wasted plywood by not having to worry about defects. As long as I seal the edges with epoxy like Yost recommends, it looks great.

I originally planned on picking up the lumber outside Albany and transporting it to the workshop... my mom's barn, about a three hour drive away outside Elmira.. 8' lengths of WRC and 2'x4' plywood will fit in my Outback. 4'x8' sheets of MDO and 16' WRC will not. Transporting it from a local yard outside Elmira shouldn't be a problem, though.

I just made a few phone calls... I can pick up MDO fairly easily in Albany. WRC 16', maybe not, but it'd still be a pain to transport. Outside Elmira, there's not much choice for lumberyards. The big box wasn't much help. The local yard doesn't stock 1/2" MDO, but might be able to order it. Clear WRC might be available. Allegedly, it's getting hard to find, and being shipped in bundles of unknown lengths. The yard doesn't stock it, either... the owner of the yard should give me a call back at some point regarding the ability to order it.

We might have some 16' pine boards left over from our sawyer days... I have no idea what kind of shape they're in, though. At least I have options... we'll see how things turn out.
