Yup, it's real. I lived in Bellingham, WA for a few years, recently. Chuckanut Drive, S of town, was - and still is - my favorite bike route ever. You cruise through an amazing rain forest, on perfect rolling hills, right beside the coast overlooking the San Juan Islands. Also, it goes right by Chuckanut Bay, which I've explored many times by both kayak and sailboat. There are a couple of islands, some amazing wave sculpted sandstone, and lots of seals, mink and crazy purple starfish.
