Before you pitch it, try letting the can of resin sit in a bucket or sink full of hot water (faucet hot, not boiling) for half an hour or so. The resin tends to crystallize a bit after sitting around a long time and the heat melts the crystals. I had to do this with an older can of West last winter.
The hardener can darken with age, but works fine aside from making a slightly darker shade of goo. Resin seems to have a long shelf life. But I tend to use up the old stuff making parts before I get to coating hulls.
