WE had two deaths early in the season On lake geroge NY one was a paddler in a Fiberglass Kayak who was run over by a ciggerette boat going 40-50 MPH. the other Im not sure but it was a small craft (canoe I thought).

last year a 14 foot boat was cut in half by a large speed boat at full cruise sped!!

We get one or 2 bad accidents almost every year on Lake George.

Shame!!! I taught scuba On lake george NY for years and had more close calls than I care to say Ive had My flag run over and some used it for a slolom ...,

I have a house walking distance to the lake But I just wont go paddling untill AFTER NEXT WEEK. even close to shore is risky , evening ist too bad but still too many boats for My taste.

One of my friends whos family has a House right on the lake HER cousin was swimming just in front of the house and a 24' boat came within 5 feet of him AT PLANE SPEED never saw him . SCARY!!

the lake is Insane this time of year and I wont paddle on it untill after Labor day , one of the local Kayak shops in Albany NY wont paddle lake george at all on season.

Im surprised with all the rentals from LG Kayak there havnt beent more accidents But im glad there havnt been!!

even on the river that I paddle situational awareness has to be On all the time No time to relax unless your inside the lillies!!

I have a wood boat but my spray skirt is Yellow My pfd is orange , I wear an orange hat and that seems to help.
