: Hey All - I'd like to hear what people here like to take paddling
: for emergency boat repairs.
Tubes of fast setting epoxy (hardener and resin) with glass patch included; large roll of duct tape; chewing gum. I would use the epoxy to do a good repair job if I had the time and conditions to do it properly. If I had to do a quickie repair, I'd use the duct tape. Duct tape will hold for months...I personally tested this out last year after busting the midsection of my hull on an ice ledge. The crack in the hull was big enough to sink my kayak after paddling only 10 minutes. The chewing gum is to keep my jaw busy if I do such a good job of wrecking the kayak that I want to swear a lot...lots of gum in my mouth prevents profanities...unless I bite my tongue while chewing. ;)
