Hole in center of bulkheads
In Response To: Strip: Petrel: Hatchless Bulkheads (Jim Flowers)
: At present I'm finishing the Petrel without hatches; I can add them
: later if my usage (play paddling) changes. When I glass in the
: bulkheads I've planned, that means totally confined cavities
: fore and aft which doesn't sound like a great thing to do. I'm
: thinking of at least adding a wine-bottle-cork sized hole at the
: top of each bulkhead to allow inverted-position draining and
: some breathing.
: Comments?
Alternatively, the center of each bulkhead could have a tiny 1/8" or 1/16" hole for breathing. If it's in the center of the bulkhead, it is above the waterline whether the kayak is upside down or not.
