That and spruce! Once on a trip I made to NH I picked up a spruce paddle blank from Laughing Loon. Lightweight and strong stuff. I only wish I could get that stuff as well. Of course anything can be shipped, but at a price. It seems spruce is getting expensive no matter where you get it.

Spruce, redwood, cedar or paulownia- I'd love to have any of it down here.
