: Do you know what version you have?

I have the screw-out. I ordered directly from Beckson because I couldn't figure out which were which by the part numbers. I reduced the height of my rear deck, so I installed a bulkhead hatch like the Betsie Bay kayaks, and I'm using my Beckson as a day hatch. Without a day gasket it seals fairly well, but if you screw it on when it's cold it won't unscrew when it gets hot and expands. A gasket would solve both problems.

Gasket issues not withstanding, it's an o.k. system. It's definitely way easier than having stuff rolling around in there if you don't have a day hatch bulkhead, which I don't (the bulkhead hatch wouldn't work then), but I can't really get it open when I'm on-water unless I raft up because it's mounted a ways back to allow for hard lines and toggles behind the cockpit and I can't quite reach it and get enough torque to spin it without losing balance. It doesn't really matter because water would wash in there like crazy and you couldn't get it out unless it was dead calm anyway. I also think it's a good idea to add a hunk of minicell or something to the drawstring on the bag so it will float if it gets in the water. It would be NICE if they made a dry bag version, but this is good too. One of the tiny dry bags will fit in it.
