I tie MONKEY FIST knots out of nylon or poly rope and use them for my grab handles.

they look nice, many colors availible (yellow poly is quite visable and floats)

The Knot is very comfortable to hold and very secure (you can tie them any size you want)

they dont beat up the boat since they are soft material (no retaining needed)
