: I agree. Safest is the plane. You remove wood slowly and
: "sneak" up on the final dimensions. I am a woodworker

: tool. I just enjoy working with them and it rare I cut something
: to small with a plane. As much wood as you have to remove I
: would trim it first with a saw and then start planing.
: One tip and someone may have mentioned this. A hand plane is a joy
: to use if it is sharp and a pain the rear if it is not. To an
: experienced woodworker, a sharp plane blade means you can shave
: the hair on your arm with it.
Better ways to shave :)
Also do this often enough and your arms look funny .
