Check eBay. Search for other than just "plane." Search for "old tool," "woodworking tool," or "antique hand tools," etc. People that don't know what they are usually sell them cheaper! Get a good set of Japanese water stones and you can dress up an old blade fairly easily. The old metal is high carbon and sharpens well.
