The skin is red canvas duck coated with 6 coats of Cabot spar varnish. Thanfully it doesn't leak a drop.
I think it paddles well. It tracks straight. I'm still learning to keep my balance so I've used a little outrigger setup half of the time. And leaned turns are a little nerve wracking for now. Gotta build up my skills before I take on Lake Erie... The outriggers are noisy, but without them the kayak is nearly silent in the water.
