Andrew-
Again, Armstrong does not handle soft woods like cedar. But they have a great selection of hardwoods including all sorts of strange stuff. I've bought a fair amount of ash and walnut coamings, stems, gunwales, accent stripes. And other species for non-boat projects.
Start in the office and have them point you at the proper barn for the species you want. The wood is all rough. Pick through the stacks, take what you want to the shop, and they'll 2 side it for you.
It really helps if you have access to a jointer and maybe a thickness planer.

Thanks for the pointer. It looks like a trip to Pinckney is in my future. I have a couple of paddles on my winter project list.
