That paddle is about average in size, so the issue it probably more a matter of technique (or strength) than the size of the blades. A longer and/or wider paddle will provide more bite in the water and reduce your cadence, but it won't necessarily make you any faster. By all means try a larger paddle (86"-88" x 3.5" or so), but don't be surprised if there's not much change. One thing I've noticed is that it seems that as paddlers become more experienced with GPs, they tend to use shorter and/or narrower paddles.

BTW, some people just seem to be able to paddle faster than others, regardless of the paddle, or boat, they use. Sadly, I've never been one of the fast guys.
