Acceleration with the relatively smaller area of the GP means you have to have a higher cadence when you first start, no biggy the stroke takes little effort, just paddle slightly faster when you first start. Actually you might be surprised at how well you can accelerate with the GP doing that. Don't try to apply more force to the paddle as it'll just draw air into the water with the stroke, just speed up the rate.
