Try USAPhotoMaps. It is free, downloads data from my Garmin GPS or uploads waypoints to it, and plots the GPS data on topo maps or aerial photos. It plots the GPS track as a line, but if you hover the mouse pointer over nodes on the line it will pop up your instantaneous speed at that point. It can be downloaded from http://jdmcox.com/.
