No paddle making expert here I did finish a storm GP paddle last night. I did a laminated ,Horizontal as I couldnt find clear lumber . I glued it up with Poly (Elmers Nano) that I found at a discount store $7.00 vs $14.95 for gorilla glue,

But I have to say I do belive Tite bond wood glue II or III would hold up fine, I would have used it if I had any left

I build custom fishing rods and I fabricate my own cork grips, I glue up all the rings with tite bond I havnt had a failure yet. paddles undergo different stress than a fly rod grip but I do think it would be a non issue.

I also did an experiment a few months back with gluing a piece of harwood to a piece of cedar (paddle tips) epoxy on one piece titebond II on the other The titebond joint was much harder to break apart.
