I have tried the webbing under staple trick. Could not stop gluing the webbing to the wood and when removing staples it would occasionally tear out a chunk of Cedar strip. I now tape a 1/8" strip under the stapler head and rest the stapler on this when setting the staple. This leaves the staple approx. 1/16" proud of the strip. Very easy to grasp with pliers and pull straight out. I also use 9/16" staples

: I officially gave up on trying to strip without staples today using
: the glue gun. I had put my sheer strips on the forms using the
: heat gun to bend the strips and the hot melt glue gun to hold
: them down. This was not working as well as I had hoped at the
: bow where the rocker kicks in, but when I tried to add the
: second strip the heat required to bend this strip caused the
: glue, the tape, and everything else to just let loose from the
: forms. So I threw in the towel, went to the store and got some
: 1/2 inch staples and started over. All is fine now and the
: strips are conforming to the forms much better now. At least I
: gave it a shot.

: I need to get some webbing to go between the staples and the strips
