Wow Kurt, I loved your site although I cannot decide if the best part is the pictures of the beautiful canoe or the entertaining and enlightening writing which accompanied them.

Blue tape/green tape? The blue is used for masking for painting or whatever. The idea is that it comes off easily and cleanly even if it has been applied for a while. The green is used on surfaces that other tapes have problems sticking to. I'm with you; the green stuff is the way to go.

Alzheimer's! I used to dread it, but now that it is working it's magic on me I kinda like it. There's so much less to worry about. Now, where was I?

On the one to ten woodworking scale you are right at the top and I am still striving to register on the bottom of the scale. However, I do know hardware. The bolts fixing your seat pedestal down can be improved. Whack them off at the top of the present nuts then remove the nuts and install acorn nuts. Ahhh! Not only is this more esthetically pleasing, but now you will not cut your feet and not so much stuff will catch on the bolts.

Lastly, at last. I am indebted to you for a great idea. Your treatise on standing while paddling in your canoe (see link)made me cross building a stand up paddleboard off my list of things to do. Obviously a canoe can handle the SUP function while bringing a whole lot of versatility to the party.
