I'm guessing around Monroe or Rayville, or are those farther from the river? I lived in Baton Rouge for years when I was going to LSU, I remember almost sinking in quicksand a few times around Thompson's creek. I'm in New Orleans, and I admit that I would not be comfortable taking my boat out in the river, but that looked like a fun trip. A few weeks ago I ended up paddling for longer than I expected, about 6 hours, let me tell you, I had some numb cheeks, I do not know the answer other than a high quality seat.
: Here in Northeast Louisiana people refer to the river as if it were
: a man eating monster. Well, yesterday and today I got to paddle
: it in my new Sea Tour 15 R. We went to check out an island to
: see if it was a good place to bring families for a cookout and
: to play in the sand and in the water.
: Both days we had a blast. I'm very pleased with the Sea Tour. It
: tracks like it's on a rail. In the eddies it got a little
: squirrely but was not hard to keep straight.
: Looking forward to the Phatwater Challenge in a couple of weeks.
: Still apprehensive about sitting in my boat for 5-6 hours. May
: need help getting out at the end of the day.
