So I made a nice SOF canoe, I designed it myself (so no IP arguments). I now I want to draw up plans. I can do all the 3d modeling part of things, but I need to get the lines off the boat and into the computer.
Whats the easiest and quickest way to take the lines off the boat? (Assuming I don't have access to a laser scanner, though its kinda tempting to rig one up...)
The options I am looking at now are as follows:
A: Tick Stick - Seems like an okay way to get a quick 2D cross section, still have to measure the lines afterward
B: Pantograph - more of a good theory, couldn't quite get it to work right though (idea was to trace the hull with a 2x reduction onto a piece of paper)
C: Measure - Done it before, wasn't fun.
Anyone have any good methods other than the above, or tips to make the whole thing go faster?
