With some hard chined kayaks, with relatively flat bottoms, J-cradles may have the advantage of being unlikely to deform
the deck or hull. The kayak is very stiff and won't deform when supported on its side in J-cradles. I have seen a kayak
(CLC Chessis 17) have its bilge panels dent in when carried deck up on foam blocks. That particular boat might have done
better deck down because of the strong deck camber, but J-cradles would not have had any problem.
