My wife feels the same way about me building another boat. As for attaching- it will take four SS hose clamps, two large enough to go around your PVC, two large enough to go around your crossbars. If you put one around the pipe it will be parallel to the crossbars on your toaster, then use one at a right angle to that over both the crossbar and the strap around the pipe.
