If it didn't pierce the skin, and didn't leak, what was the reason you put a big patch on it, rather than just adding more paint? Just curious.
FWIW, I often re-paint areas that have had the coating scraped off, and it works fine.
I guess you get good adhesion with the Kilz . . . are you using their exterior primer?
