When you're drawing the frames, just add depth to the sides, makes for more depth in the hull which adds volume inside, also will make it a tiny bit wider which will also add volume.

Then the added height of the deck will look more normal too.

Though on my Sea Ranger I just added the depth to the deck and at first I thought it looked funny, but now it looks very normal.
