Hey Damian-

If you already have your cherry, cut a strip and set it inside somewhere where it will be exposed to the most sun possible. By the time you're ready to dye your hull you'll have at least some idea of how it will look when it darkens. Keep in mind- the hull is in the water most of the time, right? You just need to get it close. You will be your own harshest critic, and even you won't be able to see it while you're sitting in the cockpit paddling off to the promised... water.

Here's a link to the TransTint color chart. http://www.homesteadfinishingproducts.com/htdocs/TransTint.htm I'd say you're looking at probably Red Mahogany with a bit of Green or Brown Mahogany mixed in. It depends on your Okoume's color. Don't be scared of green- mixing red and green makes brown, and is a much more direct route to making red more brown than adding brown. Keep in mind the samples at the link are on hard maple, which is white, and you're putting it on a wood that has color, so you're going to start from a darker place.
