I don't want this to develop into on of those GP v Euro or PC v Mac (or for the Australians, Ford v Holden) arguments.

If there was a perfect system, everyone would be using it.

External strongbacks and the brackets to mount the forms typically use more material. For people on a tight budget who have to buy everything needed for the build, that could be an issue.

The biggest problem some people have complained about is that if you build without staples or hot glue, the forms are likely to fall out when you have to turn the hull over to start the deck.

I didn't make the comment to rubbish external strongbacks. I know a lot of people use them without any problems. But there are a lot of people who use internal strongbacks with no problems.

As the OP had started the process with an internal strongback, abandoning the idea and starting again will not miraculously solve all his problems.
